StarWorks® digital video networking software provides an innovative solution for sharing both live and stored streaming video and audio data over local area networks (LANs) such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and FDDI. StarWorks makes today's standalone video applications available on the LAN and provides the foundation for future advanced networked video solutions.
StarWorks software is based on a client/server architecture that delivers cost-effective performance for workgroup video applications. It provides reliable network delivery of any video and audio format and meets the needs of even high-bandwidth video. With StarWorks software, up to 72 simultaneous Windows, DOS, Macintosh, and Solaris users can view video applications while accessing other file servers on the LAN - without impacting their current networked applications. StarWorks even allows users to load CD-ROM multimedia titles on a video server for network access of both the video content and the multimedia application itself.
StarWorks software turns a standard 486-based EISA or Pentium PCI computer into a highly functional video application serv-er that can handle over 250 gigabytes of digital video and audio storage and thousands of video and audio files. StarWorks server software is built on a realtime UNIX operating system to meet the realtime requirements of streaming data, yet fits into your current networking environment such as NetWare, NFS, LAN Manager, or AppleShare. In addition, StarWorks offers easy field maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and network management functions.
The StarWorks architecture supports the demanding requirements of live and stored video and audio data, and provides per-formance where it counts.
